Movement Coaching
Move with strength, confidence and purpose.
Animal Flow
After learning Animal Flow a few years ago, this dynamic ground-based practice, inspired by animal-movements, quickly became a part of my lifestyle. I trained with Senior Master Instructor, Chris Flores in Hoboken, NJ in the Spring of 2023, and am a Certified Animal Flow Instructor, now sharing my knowledge of this practice with others.
Animal Flow incorporates a variety of crawling patterns and movement “flows” whereby a person transitions from one pose to another pose. It's designed to enhance strength, flexibility and coordination. Inspired by break dancing, gymnastics, and yoga, it offers fun physical challenges. It can also be a very meditative practice. No experience is required to begin, and all flows and crawls can be modified to meet you where you are, adding progression over time.
Benefits of this practice include: improved flexibility, mobility, strength, coordination, core stability, cardiovascular endurance, and greater body awareness.
Club Swinging
Club swinging is something that has become an integral part of movement routine over the past couple of years. I am self-trained in this ancient practice.
Club swinging is believed to have originated in India and Persia thousands of years ago. It was adopted by Europeans in the 1800s when the British navy used it as a way to condition there soldiers. This ancient Eastern practice quickly became a key component of general health in the Europe, and was practiced by men and women of all ages. Clubs were forgotten about after WWII, but many people are now beginning to rediscover this ancient exercise, and the modern benefits it offers.
This form is wonderful for both strength-training and physical rehabilitation. Club swinging uses the full-range of motion of your shoulders, and strengthens tendons, not just muscles. It’s recommended to begin with lightweight clubs to build up tendon strength. Swinging clubs is very intuitive, and it elevates a primal action into a sort of dance. It can also be very cathartic, and is a get way to get in touch with your “inner caveman”.
For these sessions, you are welcome to start with my personal lightweight set of clubs. If it’s something you become more interested in, you might consider purchasing your own.
Benefits of this practice include: improved coordination, grip strength, core strength, should strength and durability, and body awareness.
The intent of movement coaching is to help you to connect with your body, to gain greater proprioception and to improve your bio-mechanics.. You will learn what movements your body has been missing and I will show you progressive ways to master these movements.
