About My Style
My Intention:
My intention as a massage therapist and movement coach is to help free my clients of discomfort and pain that limits their potential, allowing them to return to a natural state of balance and ease.
A massage or movement session will be uniquely tailored to each person’s preferences. My goal in every session is to bring greater bodily awareness to the client…
I believe that as we become more aware of our bodies, we gain the ability to make conscious choices about how we care for them. This awareness empowers us to adopt healthier patterns and habits. I also believe that the state of well-being nurtured through practices like massage goes beyond the physical, influencing our social connections and helping to build strong, vibrant communities. The more comfort and ease we cultivate within ourselves, the more awe-inspiring magic we unlock and create in the world around us.
Some massage practices and techniques I find to be beneficial are:
1 Stretching
I often incorporate Thai Massage stretching into a table massage. In our daily lives, many of us are not stretching enough. This limits our range of motion which make us more vulnerable to injuries. Gentle stretching allows for greater blood flow to congested parts of the body, allowing for healthy, dynamic movement. Stretching also retrains the nervous system, letting us access a state of natural ease.
2 Trigger Point
Do to the lack of diverse movement in the modern world, we are prone to use our skeletal muscles in repetitious ways. This can create what is commonly known as a “trigger point”, where muscles are stuck in a state of constant contraction, creating ongoing discomfort and pain. By targeting the trigger point using traditional and intuitive techniques, I work to alleviate the pain point and bring balance to the entire body.
3 Shaking/ Vibration/ Jostling
These gentle techniques are a great way to free the body of stored tension, trauma, and unwanted energy. Through shaking, the body is able to relax on a deep, neuro-muscular level, opening new pathways for healing and change.
4 Working Fascial Meridians
Pain in one part of the body is often caused by an imbalance in another part of the body. Fascial meridians are bands of fascial tissue that run throughout the body and help coordinate different muscle groups to perform complex actions. By working with meridians, I help to bring balance to the body as a whole, offering pain relief to the injured area and beginning the process of healing long-held patterns.
5 Breath Practice
While breathing is automatic, and not something we tend to think about, how we breath makes all the difference in how we move and experience the world. Breath is a complicated action incorporating dozens of muscles. The more we practice deep expansive breathing, engaging the many muscles that assist in the breath, the deeper our bodies will naturally breathe. Our breath influences our heart rate, which in turns influences our autonomous nervous system, (fight or flight). Cultivating awareness to our breath, in my opinion, is the single best thing we all have access to, to have a healthy emotional life. Breath practices can be incorporated into any session.
