Language's Role in Healing

The Role of Language in Healing

The language we use forms the patterns we live in. All too often people talk about having a "Bad" back or having a "Bum" Knee. Injuries are an unfortunate part of life. Our Bodies are magical at regenerating themselves though. But they do need our help.

The Language we use programs our bodies. If we talk about our bodies being bad in any way we are essentially coding our bodies to recreate the pain pattern we are living in. Garbage in garbage out as computer coders say. Sadly such language is all too common in both the allopathic and "alternative" medical fields.

Simply by repatterning our language to one that doesn't ignore our problems, but doesn't re-seed them into our bodies, we open ourselves up to the healing process.

For instance, instead of having a "bad" knee, we can have a recovering knee, or a knee that is on the mend. This acknowledges the pain, discomfort, or limitations we are dealing with. It doesn't trap us in a victim consciousness though. It tells the body to create a state of healing rather than creating a perpetual pattern.

If you are new to such ideas it can take a while to habituate such behaviors. It common to fall back into old speech patterns when new to this practice. Anytime you notice this happening all you have to do is take a moment to restate what you said using healing language. Over time you will train yourself to heal yourself through your word.
