My Intention

Massage is an ancient healing art that transcends culture. No matter where people live, they discover and cultivate perennial wisdoms around touch. Science validates and influences massage, but does not limit it.  Along with dance and laughter, massage is found among all people as an intuitive and cathartic way to manifest and sustain health. A natural healing method rooted in ours uniquely felt experience, that is all too often lost in the modern world

Humanity has a enormous scope. We have existed for, at least, a hundred and fifty thousands years.  People have found ways to live in deserts, mountains, the arctic, in tropics, and of course in rainforests.   For the vast majority of our evolutionary history we moved to the rhythms of nature. Migrated seasonally to find food. Slept when it became cold and dark to conserve calories and avoid predation. Our movement patterns were guided by perpetual fluctuating terrain beneath us. We orientated ourselves by the stars above us. We became a hyper-social hyper dexterous expression of life. This is not to say life was easy because I’m sure it was most certainly not, but to point out that we fellow humans are innately healthy strong, and resilient.

Relatively recently we bartered our connection to these natural cycles for  infinite  progressions of new technologies. The most extensive library that ever existed fits into our pockets, but our sleep now ends when we are “alarmed” by a clock. Instead of the dance of the day containing endless variation of complicated neuromuscular interactions, we now rest our glutes on ergonomically insulting chairs. Modernity  (which I do feel blessed for despite my critiques) estranges us from our bodies

This separation between our biology and culture is not only the source of so many of our health problems, but also many of our social problems.  When we are not connected to our bodies how do we form strong communities? As individuals when we suffer biological consequences of pain won’t we collectively weave that trauma into the collective conscious of our communities?

I believe as we gain consciousness of our bodies we gain choice over how we use our bodies. We become free to choose healthier patterns.  I further believe well being cultivated through massage transcends our physical bodies into our social interactions creating strong vibrant communities.  The more comfort and ease within our bodies the more awe-inspiring magic we will find and create in the world
